Ann L. Farrell
Ann L. (O’Rourke) Farrell died September 29, 2023, age 90. She was born on French Avenue in Braintree, April 4, 1933 to Anna C. (Sullivan) and Anthony H. O’Rourke. Ann was a graduate of Braintree High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, where she mastered the skill of shorthand. In her teens – tall, slim and photogenic – she won the Miss Braintree Beauty Pageant, and was featured in the Coiffure Cavalcade in Boston presented by Breck Shampoo. She was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance company in the Enrollment Department before starting her family.
She met and married Terence (Terry) Farrell in 1957. They lived in Weymouth for more than four decades, raising their five children in Sacred Heart Parish where Ann was an active member. She served in various leadership positions in the Lady’s Sodality as well as the Mother’s Club for many years. Other volunteer activities included the Garden Club of Weymouth and The Abigail Adams Historical Society.
After her children were raised, she returned to the workforce as a legal secretary for several Boston firms. In retirement, Ann and Terry lived in Middleborough, MA before moving to Bristol, RI in 2015 to be nearer to family.
Ann’s interests included gardening – both flowers and vegetables, – as well as cooking and baking, a talent for which she was greatly admired.

Farrell and his wife Stephanie of Thousand Oaks, CA; and John D. Farrell and his partner Stacey Dyer of West Hartford, CT. A son, Michael Joseph Farrell, and a brother, Leo E.
