Betty  F. (DeYoung) Snaith, age 98, a longtime resident of Houghs Neck, passed away at home with her loving family by her side on March 11, 2024.  Betty was born and raised in Braintree.  She loved roller skating going many Saturdays by bus to Di Marzio Roller Rink in Houghs  Neck with her best friend Ruth Palmer O’Connor.  Ruth’s sister made beautiful skating outfits and Ruth and Betty won best dressed awards several times.  Betty married the love of her life, Roy “Shorty” Snaith on February 27, 1949.  Except for a few years in Abington, Betty and Shorty lived in Houghs Neck with their three sons.  Betty was a homemaker devoted to her family. She with her husband, Shorty, enjoyed many annual trips to Disney World and visiting relatives in Florida.  Yet, Betty couldn’t wait to get back home to her sons often getting home from their vacation sooner than expected.  Betty valued her friendships and family more than anything and treasured the time spent with them.  Betty will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.  Beloved wife for 54 years of the late Roy H. “Shorty” Snaith (Lieutenant Quincy Fire Department). Devoted mother of Glenn and his wife Judith of Quincy, Gregory and his wife Catherine of Quincy, and the late Gary Snaith and his surviving wife Pamela of Quincy.  The last of four siblings, Betty was predeceased by her sister Rita Hurley and brothers George DeYoung and William DeYoung.  Loving Nana to Hillary Deshler and her husband Ryan and Jason Snaith and his fiancé Lisa Della Croce. Great-Grandmother to Hendrix Deshler.   Betty is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral from the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home100 Washington St. Weymouth Landing on Friday March 15 at  9 AM.  Funeral Mass in Holy Trinity Parish at  Most Blessed  Sacrament Church  1015 Sea St. Quincy  at 10:30 AM.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.    Visiting hours on Thursday from 2-4 and 7 until 8:30 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.  If desired, donations may be made in her memory to the Quincy Fireman’s Relief Assoc., 40 Quincy Avenue, Quincy, MA 02169.
