
Carolyn M. (Hurlebaus) Ryan of Braintree on June 18, 2023 in her 84th year.
Wife of Deacon Kenneth N. Ryan. Loving mother of Theresa Ryan Lacadie of New Gloucester ME, Diana Elizabeth Shelton of Braintree, Grandmother of Christian Ryan Lacadie. Sister of William H. Hurlebaus of Marion, VA and Clare M. Vaughan of Marlboro, MA and the late Jean F. Larocque and the late Michael F. Hurlebaus, plus numerous nephews and nieces.
Carolyn was a member (DGC) of the Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem, and has supported the Church in the Holy Land for many years. She was a Eucharistic Minister and taught religious education at Sacred Heart Church and was a recipient of the Cheverus Award of the Archdiocese of Boston. Carolyn volunteered at South Shore Hospital; served as a hospice volunteer; was a docent at the Church of the Presidents; and sang for nearly twenty-five years with the Sweet Adelines of Island Grove Chorus in Abington MA. She and Ken were recipient of the Laboure Center community service award. She was a member of the Thayer Library Writers Group and a poet.
Active in the Gatesmen of South Boston as a teen, Carolyn developed golden friends for life. The Ryan family offers special thanks to the Rosewood staff at Southwood of Norwell for their care of her at life’s ending; they became family and community over the past year. Visiting hours at Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington Street, Weymouth, on Thursday June 29th from 8:00 until 9:30AM. Followed by Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church (Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish) 55 Commercial St, Weymouth at 10:00AM. Interment will be at Plain Street Cemetery, Braintree.
