Charles “Charlie” J. DeYoung, age 92, entered into eternal life on December 5th, 2022. He was born and raised in Braintree, Massachusetts and was a resident of Brockton since 1958. For 68 years, Charlie was the beloved husband of the late Adelaide DeYoung who passed away in May of 2022. Charlie was an army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a combat medic. He was employed as an Electrical Designer at Stone and Webster Engineering Corporation in Boston until his retirement. Charlie is fondly remembered by his friends and loved ones as a devoted father, an avid gardener, a dedicated Boston sports fan and a well-informed history buff. He is survived by four children. Charles DeYoung Jr., and his wife Flora, of Marina del Rey, California. Michael DeYoung, John DeYoung and MaryAnne DeYoung, all of Brockton, and nieces and nephews in various locations throughout the country. Charlie was preceded in death by his beloved sisters, the late Catherine DeYoung, Elizabeth Reedy, Netha Bartek, and Marie Jackson. Charlie and Adelaide DeYoung will be memorialized and laid to rest in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne later this year.

    Charley and I worked together at S&W for about 18 years , he was always so quiet but aware of what was going on. He told me about the time in Korea when the U.S.Army was retreating and with a group of soldiers went into a bank and secured some Korean money so it wouldn’t get into the wrong hands.. After we were retired I would see him in Shaw”s or Market Basket.One time when my marriage just ended we went fishing off Marshfield with a group from S&W and I caughy a 34 lb. cod, he helped me take pictures of it. Charley was a good friend
