Weymouth-Eleanor “Lee” (Fitzgerald) Doyle, of Weymouth, was joyfully reunited with her Creator and with her loving husband, Joe Doyle, in heavenly peace on April 27, 2021.
To know Lee was to be loved. Her devotion as a wife, mother, Nana, grand Nana, and “stand-in Mom” is legendary. Lee’s most cherished memories were time spent with family and friends. She was born with a servant’s heart. You always knew she cared about you, that you had a meal when you needed one, a bed if you didn’t have one, the creative solution to any challenge you faced, and every kindness you needed.
Lee was born in South Boston and cherished her time there before leaving to raise her growing family in Weymouth. She enjoyed her Southie friends her entire life. Their companionship, support, and love enriched her life immeasurably.
She was an active and respected member of Sacred Heart Parish in Weymouth for 65 years. Lee and Joe were each honored by the Archdiocese in 2018 with the Cheverus Medal as an acknowledgement of their strong devotion to the Catholic faith. In true partnership with Joe, she instilled that faith in her family as the foundation of a spiritually rewarding life.
She was always generous with her time; from adventures in travel near and far, to den mother/troop leader, Sodalist, blood/platelet donor, eucharistic minister, baker, seamstress, cheerleader, taxi service, Boston sports fan, philanthropist, therapist, medic, the ultimate bargain hunter, and family party-planner extraordinaire. Through her actions she inspired everyone on how to share their own unique gifts.
Together with Joe, Lee raised thirteen children and embraced the expansion of their family through love and marriage: Mary and John Keohane of Abington, Kathleen and Stephen Puleo of South Weymouth, Tim and Lisa Doyle of Brewster, Pat Doyle and Tom of Weymouth, Joe and Janet Doyle of Pembroke, Michael and Marybeth Doyle of Norwood, Jane and Nate Roach of Dorchester, Nancy and Mark Logan of Westfield, Megan and Tim Forti of Whitman, Elizabeth Pflaumer of Kingston, Maureen Doyle of Weymouth, Christopher Doyle of Dorchester, and Daniel Doyle of Weymouth. She is the perfect Nana to Alicia Keohane, Rebecca Keohane, Elizabeth Keohane and her fiancé Tom Dion, Jackson and Morgan Keohane; Christopher, Aodhán, and Séamus Doyle; Brittany Doyle and her fiancée Kelley Connors, Brian and Kathleen Doyle; William Doyle, Emma Doyle; Rachel and Nick Testa, Ariana and Cornelius King, Aija Roach and her fiancé Juavahr Nathan; Sarah and MarcAnthony Parrino, Katie Rose Logan and Bret Marlowe, Megan Logan; Timothy Forti; Declan, Logan, Brady, and Parker Pflaumer; Shealin and John Allen; Isabella, Madeline, and Veronica Doyle. She is also Nana to her great grandchildren Romeo Keohane Disla; Victoria, Johnny, and Caroline Joy Allen; and Carter, Colbi, Caleb and Calise King.
Lee was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe with whom she shared her life for a remarkable 71 years, her parents Edward and Mary Katherine (Donnellan) Fitzgerald, her siblings Mary Finneran, Edward Fitzgerald and his wife Jeanne, Teresa O’Neil and her husband George, Joseph Fitzgerald and his wife Anne, Gerard “Jake” Fitzgerald, Louise McCormick and her husband George, Frankee Duggan and her husband Franna, and William “Billy” Fitzgerald.Lee will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law Jenna Fitzgerald, Cathy Fitzgerald, and Nancy Hurley, her many nieces and nephews and their families, and her longtime friends. We will delight in a gathering of faith, love, and laughter in celebration of Lee’s life when we can all be together. The Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, Weymouth is assisting the Doyle family with arrangements. Aunt Lee will be missed.
Thank you for the thoughtful and touching message Lee’s children and spouses posted. Obviously she was a wonderful mother, but also to me and my family, a fabulous aunt and sister.
