Jeannette R. Lawler
Weymouth-Jeannette “Jean” R. (Knight) Lawler, age 90, passed away gently on August 11, 2018, Born in Cambridge, Jeannette grew up in Weymouth graduating from Weymouth High School in 1945. During WWII she was a teenage coast watcher, alerting authorities of sea vessel and air traffic for early detection purposes. She was employed by Grossman’s and S.H. Couch Company of Quincy where she met her husband , marrying Gerard Lawler of Dorchester in 1951. She was a member of the Abigail Adams Club and the Weymouth Newcomers Club for which she was a past president. As a military wife she traveled the country for 18 years before settling once again in Weymouth in 1968. Mrs Lawler was the widow of Lt. Col. Gerard Lawler USMC and is survived by 4 sons, Michael and his wife Marie of Avon, Thomas and his wife Deborah of Easton, Arthur and his wife Beverly of Weymouth and James and his wife Sharon of East Bridgewater. Beloved sister of Margaret Daniel of Middleboro, the late Muriel Whitney and the late Harold Knight. Loving grandmother to Marie, Jenny, Jessica, Sharon, Gerard, Dyanna, and Katie. Funeral Service at the Clancy-Lucid Funeral Home, 100 Washington St. Weymouth on Thursday, August 16 at 2 pm. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4 until 8 pm. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial in Mount Hope Cemetery. Weymouth.
My deepest sympathy to Jeannette’s family. She was a member of the Weymouth Newcomers’ Club for many years. We had many good times together. We have missed her over the past few years as she became less active. Thankfully, she is at peace and has left many happy memories.
