Jimmy Shaw, age 77, formerly of Weymouth entered into eternal life on April 24th in Blair, Nebraska. Jimmy was both a student and longtime janitor at Sacred Heart School in Weymouth and was a soloist, Holy Name Society member and devoted parishioner at the Sacred Heart Church. He also worked at Shaw’s Supermarket in Weymouth before moving to Blair. He loved music, played the drums and organ for a hobby. Brother of Richard Shaw and his wife Kathy of Blair. Memorial Mass on Saturday July 15 at 4 PM. in the Sacred Heart Church/ Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish, 72 Washington St., Weymouth. Burial was in Blair NE.
Please accept my heartfelt condolences on the profound loss of your brother, Jimmy.
I remember Jimmy as a kind and decent man and a fixture at Sacred Heart School when I was a student in the mid 70’s/early 80’s. He was always friendly and respectful and worked hard to make our school clean and safe. He had a wonderfully distinctive singing voice and was so gifted. He was in his element when he sang.
I last saw Jimmy at Shaw’s several years ago and he was as approachable and friendly as ever, even though I don’t think he really remembered me from the old school days, I was just so happy to see him again after several decades.
It was shocking and sad to see Jimmy’s picture in the Ledger today but I also smiled and remembered what a good person and Christian he was.
We need more nice people like Jimmy Shaw in the world.
