John J. McGinty Weymouth John J. McGinty age 70, entered into eternal life on March 30, 2021. John was born and raised in Roxbury and lived in South Boston before moving to Weymouth in 1994. John graduated from Gate of Heaven High School in South Boston. He graduated from Boston State College and received his Masters in special needs education from Eastern Nazarene College. PBefore he started his teaching career, John was a respiratory therapist at Mass General Hospital for many years and treated such patients as John Wayne and other celebrities. Mr. McGinty taught at Charlestown High and then pursued teaching in Framingham at an alternative program for socially challenged teens. His gentle nature as a teacher and mentor helped mold many troubled students. In his retirement he frequented Castle Island. He was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Church and an usher at the Saturday 4 PM Mass. He assisted the disabled parishioners to receive Holy Communion. John was a faithful fan attending his niece’s and his nephews’ hockey, soccer, baseball games and dance recitals. He was a devout Boston Sports fan and an avid reader. Beloved son of the late Joseph D. and Rose (Hewitt) McGinty. Beloved brother of James McGinty and his wife Maddie of Weymouth and the late Joseph McGinty. Brother-in-law of Patricia McGinty of West Hartford, Ct. Loving uncle to Joseph McGinty and his wife Leanne of North Attleboro, Michelle McGinty and her husband Steven Barash of Abington and Christopher McGinty and his wife Christine of South Hero, Vermont. Great uncle to Savannah Elizabeth, Sheamus Patrick, Olivia Lorraine, Emily Rose, Elizabeth Miriam and Evelyn Grace. Devoted nephew of the late Margaret and Mary “Fran” Hewitt and Anna McGinty. Funeral Mass on Monday April 5 in the Immaculate Conception Church East Weymouth at 10:30 am . Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are omitted. Private burial in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth. The McGinty family wishes to acknowledge the Gaslight Village staff, Quincy Health and Rehab staff, Doctor Billington and the nursing staff at South Shore Hospital and Hospital Chaplain Father Anthony Marchem. John was a beautiful soul and a great educator. He was always my right hand man and dear, dear friend. I will miss his goodness and kindness. John was a true gentlemen and a loyal friend. The world has lost a beautiful person. I am sure he is smiling down on his family. John loved you all so much. I felt like I knew you as he shared so many stories about you. Rest in Peace McGint
